A First Kick for Dad!

I know, I know, I'm supposed to be working on my application (I just stopped for a minute, I swear!) but I wanted to share this exciting news while I was thinking about it.

If you read Jules' latest post you'll know that she went to the doctor's yesterday for one of her regular pregnancy checkups. We were in bed last night talking about what the doctor had to say, and Jules told me that apparently I should be able to feel the baby kicking in the next couple of weeks. That was pretty exciting news, but of course two weeks still seemed like a long for me to wait. Well, luckily for me the baby decided to try out for the kick-boxing team right about then, so Jules grabbed my hand and pressed it into her belly where I'm pretty sure I felt the baby kicking for the first time!

Of course, this may have been mostly wishful thinking on my part, but I'd like to think that I actually felt the baby last night and it wasn't just my imagination.

P.S. Two posts in two days? How's that for procrastination?

BTW, good news about the job application thing! Hope it goes well. Feeling the baby kicking was the next most tangible realisation that fatherhood was real for me (1st was seeing Alex on the ultrasound).

I was sure that I actually jammed with Alex while he was in utero. One night while Cassandra was asleep I was just beating time on her tummy, and Alex manage to tap my hand in pretty much the same time! I did 4 beats, and he did 4 beats. Of course I tried again and he didn't, but it still makes a good story!

Hopefully you'll get to see the little fella's elbows dragging along the wall of Julia's tummy, almost like he's trying to get out!! Lots of fun.

Daniel, are you sure that wasn't the baby yelling "Stella!! I need a Stella". Baby B probably saw you hauling that lovely grog into the garage. (from Dad D)
Great to hear B is kicking. There's plenty more where that came from - trust me! (love Mum D)

That's pretty awesome. You weren't under the influence of your 'new friends' at the time were you? Just checking :)
I guess if you feel more, you'll know for sure.

Are you finished the job app now?
